What to Expect at Counselling
At Absolutely Confidential Counselling, we offer a safe and supportive environment where your issues will be discussed and explored at a pace that feels comfortable to you.
The First Counselling Session
Many people often feel anxious when they first attend counselling. We understand this and will help you to feel comfortable and understood.
The first session involves gaining an understanding of your personal history and the life issues that are concerning you at the moment. You will be encouraged to discuss your goals and your counsellor will work with you to develop a meaningful plan to address and manage your present situation and help you achieve those goals.
We will estimate the number of sessions and determine the type of therapy that will lead to an effective outcome. Our treatment aim is to work with you until we arrive at a place where you feel empowered and ready to tackle new challenges with strength and confidence.
A standard counselling session is approximately one hour. Longer appointments can also be arranged.
Getting the Most From Counselling
To get the best out of the therapy process:
- Attend every scheduled session
- Try to share your thoughts and feelings openly
- Keep an open mind
- Ask questions, discuss any doubts or concerns
- Complete any set tasks.
